Beef lasagna with ricotta is a crowd-pleaser. It layered flavors and textures, like rich beefy tomato sauce and creamy cheese, are irresistible. This dish has all the components of a comforting Italian meal that your whole family can enjoy. Plus, it’s easy to make ahead and reheat! Better yet, it can be served as an entrée one night, then repurposed for a lunch or dinner side the next day.


  • 2 lbs 2 ground beef

  • 8 ounces 8 fresh mushrooms, chopped

  • 4 cloves 4 garlic, minced

  • 7 cups 7 marinara sauce

  • 9 packs 9 lasagna noodles, uncooked

  • 3/4 cup 3/4 parmesan cheese, grated

  • 16 ounces 16 ricotta cheese

  • 3 cups 3 mozzarella cheese, shredded


  • Preheat oven to 375F.
  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat, then add the ground beef to brown for 6 minutes.
  • Add the mushrooms, garlic and 1/2 cup of marinara sauce to the skillet and cook until vegetables are soft (about 5 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and set aside.
  • In a bowl combine ricotta cheese with parmesan cheese and mix together until combined. Set aside for later use.
  • Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish then layer with three raw lasagna noodles followed by half of the beef mixture from earlier then another cup of marinara sauce followed by half of the ricotta mixture spread evenly over the noodles.
  • Top with another layer of three noodles followed by remaining beef mixture and another cup of marinara sauce finally topping with remaining ricotta cheese.
  • Sprinkle 2 cups mozzarella cheese over top of entire dish.
  • Bake at 375F uncovered for 45 minutes to 1 hour
  • Allow 15 minutes cooling time prior to serving


  • If you’re not a fan of mushrooms, simply remove from the recipe.
