Seasoned Black Rice

Many of us have been on quite the health kick this year. Since the end of January 2022 is near, this is also the time that many of us fall off of that health kick. So, today I am delivering to you a delicious and healthy rice recipe. This isn’t just any type of rice, however. It is Seasoned Black Rice and it benefits the body in many ways. We’ll get into that later.

To be quite honest, I first started cooking black rice because I picked it up in the grocery aisle one day since I thought it looked “cool.” It wasn’t until I made the first batch that I decided to look up the benefits of black rice. And, boy was I pleasantly surprised.

Black rice is better to eat as opposed to brown rice. Yes, it’s healthier because it’s the highest rice in antioxidant activity. This rice also contains more protein than other types of rice such as brown rice. Black rice may also help your eye and heart health. And, it might even aid in weight loss. Seasoned Black Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups 1 3/4 water

  • 1 cup 1 black rice

  • 2 tablespoons 2 onion powder

  • 1 tablespoon 1 garlic powder

  • 2 teaspoons 2 Italian seasoning

  • 1 cube 1 chicken or vegetable bouillon

Directions

  • Rinse the rice and pour into a medium saucepan. Add 1 ¾ cups water.
  • Next, add onion powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, and bouillon cube.
  • Bring to a boil. Then, reduce heat to low. Cover with a lid and simmer until rice is tender (35 to 40 minutes).
  • Fluff with a fork and serve. Enjoy! 

Of course, this recipe is relatively healthy, but healthy should taste good too, right? That’s why we load this rice with seasoning! It’s delicious that way. The ingredients that you will need to make this recipe are 1 ¾ cups of water, 1 cup of black rice, 2 tablespoons of onion powder, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder, 2 teaspoons of Italian seasoning, and 1 cube of chicken or vegetable bouillon. Be sure to add a lot of love to that pot too! That’s the most important ingredient of any recipe.

To cook this, Seasoned Black Rice, first, rinse the rice well and pour it into a medium saucepan. Add 1 ¾ cups of water. Next, add the seasonings. First, add the onion powder, then the garlic powder next comes the Italian seasoning, and finally the bouillon cube. You can use either a chicken bouillon or a vegetable bouillon cube. Bring the rice to a boil. Then, reduce the heat to low. Cover with a lid and simmer until the rice is tender. This should take 35 to 40 minutes. However, I have seen some packages that call for an hour of boiling time. It all depends on your stove. Finally, fluff the rice with a fork and serve it. Enjoy!
