However, if you prefer to use red potatoes or Yukon gold potatoes, then go right ahead and replace the Russet potatoes being used in this recipe with the potatoes of your choice.

To make this delicious Mashed Potato recipe, you will need 2 pounds of Russet potatoes that are peeled and rinsed, 1 cup of milk, 3 tablespoons of softened butter, 1 tablespoon of garlic powder 2 teaspoons of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

To get this dish going, first, cut the potatoes into bite-sized pieces. Next, fill up a large pot with cold water and add the potatoes and 1 teaspoon of salt. The water should just cover the potatoes. Boil the potatoes for 20 minutes or until they are tender when poked with a fork. After 20 minutes, drain the potatoes and transfer them to a bowl. Add the milk, softened butter, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Then, use a potato masher to mash the mixture together until you reach your desired consistency. Finally, Serve and Enjoy!
