Ingredients

  • 2 pounds 2 sweet potatoes, washed, peeled, and sliced 1/2 inch thick

  • 3 tablespoons 3 unsalted butter

  • 1 tablespoon 1 cinnamon

  • 1 teaspoon 1 nutmeg

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 brown sugar

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F/177°C. Place sliced sweet potatoes in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Set aside.
  • Next, in a medium-sized skillet, melt together butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar and brown sugar.
  • Pour mixture over sweet potatoes and toss to coat evenly.
  • Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 35 minutes.
  • Remove sweet potatoes from the oven and baste with their own mixture.
  • Cover with foil again and bake for 10-15 more minutes.
  • Remove from the oven and allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

  • Everyone has their preference for sweetness. Adjust the sweetness according to your liking. 

This Candied Sweet Potato recipe is easy to make and well worth the 50 minute cooking time. To make these Candied Sweet Potatoes, you will need two pounds of sweet potatoes that are washed, peeled, and sliced 1/2 inch thick. You will also need 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter, 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon, 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, and 1/2 cup of brown sugar. Go ahead and preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place the sliced sweet potatoes in a 9×13 inch baking dish. Set the dish aside so you can work on the sugar mixture.

To make the sugar mixture, melt together unsalted butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Then, pour the sugar mixture over the sweet potatoes and toss them to coat evenly. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake the sweet potatoes for 35 minutes. Remove sweet potatoes from the oven and baste with their own mixture. Cover with foil once more and bake for 10-15 more minutes. Remove the Candied Sweet Potatoes from the oven and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy every bite!
