Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Introducing Salt and Sweet. Now, I’m going to merge the two of them perfectly. If you like salt and you like sweet, then your palate will be in perfect harmony with these Chocolate Covered Pretzels. I just love savory and sweet together. I look forward to knowing that with each bite that I take, I am expecting and getting both. To me, that is sheer satisfaction.

When I eat Chocolate Covered Pretzels, it evokes nostalgia in me. I recall from the time I was in Pre-K until I graduated from high school, every year, my mom would make chocolate covered pretzels for the school staff for all holiday occasions. Whether it was Teacher Appreciation Week or Holiday gifts for my teachers, my mom would make chocolate covered pretzels.

She didn’t just make pretzels and stick them in a Ziploc bag. No. My mom would find the cutest boxes and decorative or clear cellophane bags and tie each one with a ribbon. Then she would put a slew of trays filled with milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate in the teacher’s lounge so that they could grab a treat throughout the day. She didn’t just dip the pretzels in the chocolate. She would sprinkle the pretzels with colorful jimmies for each holiday or celebratory occasion. She would even dip half milk chocolate and the other half dark or white chocolate for some. She has always been creative. Fortunately, she passed that trait on to me.

Ok. Reminiscing time is over. Thank you for going down memory lane with me. I know that you too, have your own fond memories from your childhood and this is the perfect time of the year to venture down memory lane while eating a chocolate covered pretzel of course. These pretzels are super easy to make. I like to make quick and easy recipes because it saves me time in the kitchen and more time to enjoy my family and friends.

And mostly, to have some solo time to think of recipe creations and perhaps curl up on the sofa and read a good book or watch a favorite movie. For preparation, you will need to get a long tray and line it with parchment paper. If you have kids or grandkids, why not involve them in making this fun treat.

Step 1. Heat the chocolate on low heat until fully melted. Then, let the chocolate cool for one minute. Step 2. Using a fork, submerge the entire pretzel in the chocolate and quickly place the dipped pretzel on the tray. Get as creative with your sprinkles or drizzle as you wish. Step 3. Place the tray of pretzels in your refrigerator for about 15 minutes to set. Oops. I almost forgot. Once they are ready to eat, take your beautiful pretzels off of the parchment paper and put them in a pretty container, and share them with someone you love.

And, because I know you love yourself, treat yourself doubly, because you deserve to fuel your body with a sweet and savory concoction. I can’t think of a better union. Can you? Enjoy this Sweet and Savory Treat!
