Every home cook should know how to make decent French toast. This French toast recipe is much more than decent, however. So, you’ll be a home cook who knows how to make FANTASTIC French toast. Making this French toast is easy and you only need a few ingredients.

To make sure that you achieve the perfect French toast, you must use the right kind of bread. I like to use Challah, which is Jewish bread. If you have never used Challah, then you are missing out for sure and need to try it ASAP. So, be sure to pick up some of that. You can get Challah from any Jewish bakery. Most grocery stores sell Challah as well. If you cannot find Challah, then any similar thick-cut bread will work when it comes to making this French Toast. Brioche bread is another great option!

The ingredients that you need to use to make this Thick Bread French Toast are 2 large eggs, 3/4 cup of milk, 1 tablespoon of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of nutmeg, 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, 4-6 (¾ inch thick) slices of Challah, and 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter.

To make this, first, beat the eggs, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract in a bowl until everything is well combined. Then, place the bread slices in the mixture so that both sides get evenly soaked. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted, place the soaked challah slices in the skillet. Cook them for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until brown to your liking.

If you burn the french toast, then you will just want to start fresh. Burnt french toast is no good. That is why it is so important to adhere to the short cooking time and keep your eye on the french toast as it cooks.

To serve this delectable Thick Bread French Toast as breakfast, pair it with maple syrup. Then, whip up some sausage, bacon, and eggs, or some of your favorite sides. To serve this French Toast as a treat or dessert, top it with some ice cream and maple syrup!
