Chocolate Hummus

How sweet is this chocolate treat? Well, it’s even more wonderful to eat! Many have heard of plain hummus or even roasted red pepper and pickle-flavored hummus. However, did you know that hummus comes in many different flavors? 

Ever heard of Chocolate Hummus? Yes! Chocolate Hummus exists. It makes for a yummy dessert or even a delicious midday snack. The idea of eating Chocolate Hummus might take many by surprise. However, you get to try it, because it’s what is on the menu for today.

Ingredients

  • 15 ounce 15 can cooked chickpeas, rinsed and drained

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup 1/4 maple syrup

  • 3 tablespoons 3 tahini

  • 3 tablespoons 3 hot water

  • pinch of salt

Directions

  • To a food processor, add the chickpeas, cocoa powder, maple syrup, tahini, hot water and salt. Purée for 30 to 45 seconds. Use a rubber spatula to scrape the sides of the bowl. Add more water as needed.
  • Purée again to get it nice and creamy.
  • Serve with pita chips, pretzels, or fruit. Enjoy!
